Rubio’s GOP successor clears key hurdle to finish his six-year Senate term

Fox News · 2 hours ago

Republican Senator Ashley Moody has won Florida's GOP Senate primary, overcoming three challengers to secure the nomination to serve out the remainder of Marco Rubio's Senate term. The victory, backed by Donald Trump, positions Moody strongly ahead of the general election as she seeks to complete the final two years of the six-year term that Rubio vacated when he became Secretary of State.

Moody defeated Republican rivals Chris Gleason and Neelam, among others, in Tuesday's primary. The seat has been closely watched as part of a broader wave of primary contests across the country, including races in which establishment Democrats and Republicans faced challenges from progressive and Democratic socialist insurgents.
