Rude mayor asks woman ‘Did you get a job yet, Dana? Are you still living in a basement?’ during fractious council meeting
Toms River Mayor Daniel Rodrick mocked resident Dana Tormollan during an October 19 council meeting after she challenged political material sent with residents’ tax bills. He asked whether she had found a job and was still living in a basement; Tormollan said she worked and paid her own bills. The exchange has added to concerns about Rodrick’s conduct at public meetings.
Tormollan said she wanted to object to what she regarded as misleading claims in Rodrick’s letter and later criticised his treatment of older women who spoke to the council. On October 28, the township council voted 4-3 to pass a no-confidence resolution accusing Rodrick of reprehensible behaviour and disruptions. That meeting also brought a separate dispute over a livestream delay during which Councilman Craig Coleman read accusations against Council Vice President Thomas Nivison.
In short
