RuneScape is a fantasy game in which players create characters and explore a world called Gielinor. First released in 2001, it has since grown into several games, including Old School RuneScape, which keeps an earlier version of the game available.

Jagex, the British company that made RuneScape, owns the game world and its characters. Lyrical Animation is an animation studio, while Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White is an online creator and long-time player of the game. The project brings together the game’s owner, an animation producer and a creator familiar with its history.

The series would take RuneScape’s fantasy setting beyond interactive games and to a wider audience. It is part of a broader effort to develop stories and entertainment based on Gielinor.
