A six-year fan campaign to build a permanent memorial to Neil Peart, the late drummer and lyricist of Rush, has reached its $1 million fundraising goal after the band donated $785,000 to the cause. The memorial will be located at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines, Ontario, the location that inspired Peart's acclaimed 1975 song of the same name. The project represents a significant cultural achievement for the Canadian city and will create a lasting tribute to Peart's legacy and artistic influence.

The fundraising initiative began in early 2020 with a petition that garnered over 20,000 signatures calling for a statue or plaque at the park. Rush raised the funds through sales of VIP concert packages, whilst Geddy Lee contributed an additional dollar from every ticket sold during his 2023 book tour. Band members Lee and Alex Lifeson formally presented the cheque to the Neil Peart Commemorative Task Force following Rush's recent Toronto shows at Scotiabank Arena, enabling the public art memorial to proceed as planned.
