Rusko Announces Indefinite Hiatus From Music & Touring: ‘It Became Clear I Was Having a Breakdown Mentally’

Billboard · 12 hours ago

UK dubstep pioneer Rusko has announced an indefinite hiatus from music and touring, revealing in a social media statement on 17 July that he suffered a mental breakdown after ignoring his physical and mental health for too long. He apologised to fans for cancelling upcoming shows, thanked them for their support over the years, and said he could not guarantee a return but hoped it would eventually be a "see ya later" rather than a permanent goodbye.

Rusko, a key figure in the UK dubstep scene, previously stepped away from music in 2017 while being treated for stomach cancer, later confirming he was cancer-free. His two solo studio albums, O.M.G.! (2010) and Songs (2012), both reached the Top Dance Albums chart, peaking at No. 12 and No. 10 respectively, and his most recent release, a collaborative track called "Professor X" with Marco Strous, came out in March. Fellow producers including Ravenscoon, Levity and LSDream left supportive messages praising his influence on the genre and wishing him a healthy recovery.
