Russell Brand is ‘petrified’ in prison and admitted fears of incarceration to wife Laura on camera days before he was found guilty

The article adds that footage recorded on 11 October shows Russell Brand telling his wife, Laura Gallacher, he was frightened by the prospect of prison, days before his trial began. He has since been convicted of rape and three sexual assaults and is being held at Wandsworth prison before sentencing on Monday.

Brand arrived at the south London jail at about 6pm, was strip-searched and medically assessed, then placed in a cell measuring 9.8 by 6.7 feet. The article says staff assessed the risk of distress or self-harm, and that his celebrity status and sex-offender conviction could make him a target; he was allowed one phone call, believed to have been to his wife.
