Russia launches missile attack on Kyiv, injuring residents
Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, injuring two people and damaging homes and a building used by a kindergarten, according to Ukrainian officials. The strike came after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing attacks on energy sites, bridges and other infrastructure, and as diplomatic efforts over the war continued.
Debris hit a five-storey apartment block in western Kyiv and damaged the facade of another residential building; officials warned residents that further strikes were possible. The attack came three days before US-led talks between Ukraine and Russia were due to open in Abu Dhabi, following discussions in Brussels on reconstruction, funding and security guarantees. Separately, Ukraine said the death toll from a Russian bombing of an aid distribution point in Zaporizhia had risen to 50.
