Russia preparing major attack against Ukraine’s bridges, critical infrastructure, Zelensky warns
President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on 6 November that Russian forces were preparing a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy network, bridges over the Dnipro River and other civilian infrastructure. The warning comes after strikes caused severe disruption in Kyiv and less than a week before the next round of US-brokered peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
Recent Russian attacks have damaged Kyiv’s energy facilities, causing widespread blackouts and the worst water shortages of the full-scale war, while also increasingly targeting the city’s main bridges. Zelensky said Ukraine’s military was preparing to defend against another attack but faced an air-defence shortage, and urged partners not to delay Patriot and NASAMS deliveries; approval for those systems has been delayed for a month. He also said he had spoken with the team responsible for Ukraine’s long-range strikes.
In short
- Zelensky says Russia is preparing another major attack.
- Energy sites, Dnipro bridges and civilian infrastructure may be targeted.
- Ukraine is seeking timely air-defence deliveries as it prepares.
