Russia has warned that British military sites and equipment could be targeted if Ukraine uses UK-supplied long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russia. The warning signals heightened rhetoric over Western military support for Kyiv and raises concerns about a wider confrontation between Russia and NATO countries.

Moscow said the threat followed an alleged Ukrainian Storm Shadow strike on a shopping centre in Russian-controlled Donetsk, which it said injured civilians, including children. Britain rejected Russia’s framing, reaffirming support for Ukraine’s defence against the invasion; Storm Shadow and its French equivalent, SCALP, have a reported range of more than 155 miles, while Russia also criticised reported use of British-made drones against targets inside Russia.
