Rust August Force Wipe Brings New DLC and Major Update

Polygon · 2 weeks ago

Rust's monthly reset arrived alongside the Power Trip update, which overhauled major landmarks to depend on electrical infrastructure. Two new cosmetics entered the store—the Bar Games DLC featuring mini-games and social tools, and a Stone Sculpture editor allowing players to carve and shape custom stone creations.

The update restructured landmark mechanics so that Dome, Launch Site, Water Treatment, and Airfield now require activated power from the central Power Plant to function. This creates a dominant territory around power generation that large groups can more readily secure and defend. However, some players noted that solo players could theoretically outmanoeuvre larger teams by strategically managing fuel consumption and exploiting electrical gaps.

  • Rust's August wipe launches 'Power Trip' update, centralizing gameplay around power generation at the Power Plant monument.
  • New DLC adds Bar Games (mini-games, jukebox) and Stone Sculpture tools for creative building.
  • Community split: organised clans gain structural advantage, but solo players may exploit electrical gap management.
