Rutgers University professor Mark Bray, author of "Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook," is releasing a new book detailing how he left the United States for Spain with his family following Charlie Kirk's assassination in September 2025, after allegedly receiving death threats and having his address circulated online. The book, titled "Unpunctuated Death Threats: Notes from a Fascist Present" and due out on 19 January, frames the US as gripped by a "fascist present" driven by far-right influencers and networked violence, and the story has drawn criticism from students who question Bray's self-portrayal as a victim.

The publisher says federal agents questioned Bray at the airport before he successfully relocated with his wife and two young children, an experience it describes as leaving him "a wreck." Bray, who has previously voiced strong support for militant anti-fascism and donated proceeds from his earlier book to an international antifa legal defence fund, faced a student-led petition at Rutgers last October calling for his removal. Rutgers sophomore Megan Doyle told Fox News Digital it was "ironic" for Bray to present himself as a victim given his past advocacy, noting he remains employed by the taxpayer-funded university while promoting his book from Spain.
