Ryan Hemsworth has announced his first solo album since 2018, Numbskull, due for release on 21 October via Topshelf. The record continues his collaborative approach, featuring Tegan And Sara, MSPAINT, Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties, Nana Lourdes and allie, while its first two singles, “One Step” and “A Display Of Emotion”, are available now.

Hemsworth said “One Step” drew on Three 6 Mafia and 1990s UK rave influences, with Tudzin’s contribution helping define the album’s unexpected collaborative direction. He described “A Display Of Emotion” as balancing melancholic guitar with bass-heavy electronic music; some tracks were made late at night while caring for his children during the day. Numbskull contains 11 tracks, and Hemsworth will tour nine US cities from 4 to 13 November.
