Speaking at Fanatics Fest, the actor named comic writers Fabian Nicieza and Gerry Duggan as key influences whose work has yet to be adapted, indicating the sequel could explore new territory for the franchise following 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed around $1.3 billion at the box office.

Nicieza co-created Deadpool and wrote his first solo comic run, while Duggan penned several acclaimed series including Deadpool vs. SHIELD and Wedding of Deadpool. No concrete plans for Deadpool 4 have been confirmed, and Reynolds is not expected to appear in this year's Avengers: Doomsday. He has also spoken previously about developing a possible X-Men ensemble film featuring Deadpool in a supporting role, though this remains an informal, privately developed idea rather than an official pitch to Marvel.
