Ryu leads Open in pursuit of third straight major
Haeran Ryu leads the AIG Women’s Open after recovering from a difficult start to her second round at Royal Lytham & St Annes. The South Korean’s late birdie gave her a one-shot advantage as she pursues a third major title of the year, an achievement only four women have managed in a calendar year.
Ryu is seven under par, ahead of Japan’s Shiho Kuwaki on six under, with Yealimi Noh and Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul a further shot back. England’s Lottie Woad and Charley Hull are both two under, five shots behind, while world number one Nelly Korda improved with a 68 to reach one under; Hull remains in contention for her first major despite back soreness.
