Sad cause of death revealed for promising young computing student, 26, found dead in Grand Canyon just weeks before master’s graduation

Sandarsh Krishna, a 26-year-old Arizona State University computing student, died by suicide after falling at the Grand Canyon, according to the Coconino County Medical Examiner. His death followed a major search operation and has prompted renewed attention to the risks faced by visitors at the park.

Krishna was reported missing on 28 April after last being seen near the South Rim’s Rim Trail, and his body was recovered below the rim near Verkamp’s Visitor Centre on 9 May. He was due to complete his master’s degree within weeks and had reportedly planned to return home for final examinations and a job interview; his backpack had been handed to lodge staff shortly after he disappeared.
