Salech hails Moylan partnership for Cardiff
Yousef Salech says he and Jack Moylan complement each other as Cardiff City build momentum in the Championship. Salech returned from a five-week injury absence to score the winner against Birmingham, ending their unbeaten run and helping Cardiff stay six points from both the play-off places and the relegation zone.
Salech was added to the starting line-up shortly before kick-off after Krystian Bielik picked up a groin injury in the warm-up. Though he had a penalty saved, Salech scored in the 31st minute from Ollie Tanner’s assist and played the full match, despite Cardiff initially planning to limit him to 45 minutes. The squad had also visited Aberfan before the game, learning about the 1966 disaster in which 116 children and 28 adults died; Salech said the visit and conversations with those affected had a strong emotional impact on the team.
In short
- Salech scored the winner on his return from injury.
- He says his partnership with Moylan benefits both players.
- Cardiff remain six points from both play-off and relegation places.
Explained simply
Cardiff City are a Welsh club playing in the Championship, the second tier of English league football. Teams near the top can reach the Premier League through promotion, while those near the bottom risk dropping to a lower division.
Yousef Salech is a Cardiff forward, and Jack Moylan is another attacking player; Salech says their playing styles work well together. Cardiff’s position between the play-off places and the relegation zone means results can affect whether they move towards promotion or become concerned about staying up.
