Sam Heughan To Star Opposite Viola Davis In Paramount+ Thriller ‘Ascent’

Sam Heughan will star opposite Viola Davis in *Ascent*, a Paramount+ thriller created by John Logan. The series is set in the high-stakes world of corporate crisis management, where Davis’s character must draw on her formidable skills after her estranged daughter is endangered.

Heughan plays Conal, a top agent at Ascent Ventures, known for charm, adaptability and ruthlessness. Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles next year; Logan will serve as showrunner, with Davis and others among the executive producers. Heughan has recently completed the final season of *Outlander* and is also set to appear in the political thriller *Embassy*.
