Paramount+ has added the 1997 sci-fi horror film Event Horizon to its streaming library, giving new audiences access to a film that flopped at cinemas but later became a cult favourite. Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, the film follows a rescue crew investigating the reappearance of a research spacecraft that vanished mysteriously seven years earlier, only to discover the ship harbours an incomprehensible, supernatural horror.

The film stars Laurence Fishburne as Captain Miller and Sam Neill as Dr William Weir, alongside Kathleen Quinlan, Joely Richardson, Richard T. Jones, Jack Noseworthy, Jason Isaacs and Sean Pertwee. Event Horizon struggled at the box office, taking roughly $42 million worldwide against a reported $60 million budget, and holds a middling 37% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, yet it found lasting popularity through home video and has since been reassessed as a genre classic prized for its atmosphere and dread-laden tone.
