Sam Raimi’s Near-Perfect Horror Series Is Taking Over the World 8 Years Later

Collider · 2 hours ago

Ash vs Evil Dead, the 2015-2018 television continuation of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise, has resurfaced as a streaming hit eight years after it ended, currently trending on both the Apple TV Store and Lionsgate+. The series carried Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) into a new story set three decades after the original films, restoring the claustrophobic possession horror and slapstick gore that defined the earlier movies while following Ash as a washed-up store clerk forced back into demon-fighting. Its renewed popularity highlights the enduring appeal of Raimi's blend of horror and comedy, even though he only directed the pilot and co-created the show rather than helming it throughout.

Between 16 and 22 July 2026, the series held between #10 and #19 on the Apple TV Store charts in both the UK and the US. In Italy, it also appeared twice in Lionsgate+'s (Amazon Channels) most-streamed Top 10, reaching #8 and then #10 on 22 July. Co-created by Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy, the show starred Campbell alongside Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Lucy Lawless across three seasons totalling just 30 half-hour episodes, making for a roughly 15-hour complete watch.
