Sam Wood launches fresh bid for freedom after bail refusal on domestic violence charges

Daily Mail ·

Sam Wood has applied to Queensland’s Supreme Court for bail, less than a month after a lower court refused his release. He remains in custody over charges arising from an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife, Snezana, in Noosa; the new application is due to be heard on 4 November.

The alleged incident took place on 3 October as the couple packed to leave their holiday accommodation. Prosecutors told the earlier hearing that Wood grabbed Snezana by the throat and restricted her breathing, while his lawyer said Wood denied strangling her and might rely on self-defence. The magistrate described the prosecution case as relatively strong when refusing bail on 9 October.
