Samsung has released the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, a premium Android tablet priced at $1,400 that stands as one of the few true high-end options in the Android market, as most major manufacturers have largely abandoned the category. The device combines an expansive 14.6-inch OLED display with an impressively thin and light design, making it Samsung's strongest pitch as a laptop alternative through its DeX mode feature.

The tablet features a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, delivering performance comparable to some laptops (scoring 9,403 in Geekbench 7 tests). Its display boasts 1,600 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz variable refresh rate, whilst the 692-gram body maintains a svelte 5.1mm profile with a durable aluminium frame. However, the device has notable limitations for productivity use: it offers only a single USB-C port and lacks a microSD card slot. Battery performance is strong at 19 hours and 39 minutes on video playback testing, and the dual rear camera setup (13MP and 8MP) provides respectable imaging capabilities for a tablet.
