Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a new, more premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London, giving buyers two large-screen foldables to choose from for the first time. The Fold 8 Ultra, starting at $2,099.99, effectively succeeds the Z Fold 7 with a taller, larger design, while the standard Fold 8, from $1,899.99, introduces a new shorter, wider form factor. The choice matters because the two models share much of the same core technology, including a more durable Flex Titanium display, but diverge significantly on size, camera power and price.

The Fold 8 has a 5.5-inch cover screen and 7.6-inch inner display, while the Ultra's are larger at 6.5 inches and 8 inches respectively, with higher resolution on both. The Ultra is taller, thinner and slightly heavier at 215g versus 201g, and packs a bigger 5,000mAh battery compared to the Fold 8's 4,800mAh, though both charge at 45W wired and 20W wireless. Camera specifications differ most sharply: the Ultra has a 200MP main rear camera plus a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, whereas the standard Fold 8 has just a 50MP main camera and no telephoto lens, making the Ultra the stronger choice for photography enthusiasts willing to pay more.
