San Sebastian Adds Jesse Eisenberg, Fred Cavayé, Amanda Kernell Films to Golden Shell Race
The San Sebastián Film Festival has added six films to its 2026 Official Selection, expanding the field competing for the Golden Shell at its 74th edition. The additions bring high-profile international directors and actors into the race, reinforcing the festival’s role as a major European launchpad for films arriving after premieres in Toronto.
Jesse Eisenberg’s third directing feature, “The Debut”, stars Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, while Fred Cavayé will present a new adaptation of “Les Misérables” featuring Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim and Noémie Merlant. Other additions include Amanda Kernell’s reindeer-herding drama “Brace Your Heart”, Gabriel Martins’ “On Behalf of My Son”, and debut features “Border” by Ah Biao and Tony Vahl’s wartime drama “Krux”; they join 10 previously announced contenders. The festival runs from 18 to 26 September.
