Paris-based sales company Moveria has picked up international sales rights to "Will You Still Be My Friend," the debut feature from Taiwanese director Lu Po-Shun. The Taiwan-Singapore co-production will premiere in the New Directors sidebar at San Sebastián before screening at the Busan International Film Festival, and is also in contention for San Sebastián's Sebastiane Award, which recognises films exploring LGBTQIA+ themes.

The film centres on two young boys, played by Jaden Wang and Aloysius Looi, whose close friendship comes under strain amid an escalating feud between their families in a rural Taiwanese village, as one boy also begins to privately question his feelings for his friend. The cast includes Lung Tien Hsiang, Lu Yi-Ching, Andie Chen, Kate Pang and Xing Chang, and it was produced by Eric Chou Tseng-Chen and Yu-Hao Su through Taiwan's InLight Film Studio and Verdant Peak Films. Moveria's head of sales, Yasmin Porangaba, praised the ambiguity of the boys' bond and the naturalism of their performances. The project has already featured at industry events including Ties That Bind, the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion, EFM Far East in Progress and HAF Goes to Cannes, and marks Lu's feature debut after his short "Wild Tides" won best director at the Taipei Film Awards.
