The San Sebastián Film Festival has unveiled its Spanish-language programming, headlined by filmmaker J.A. Bayona's upcoming documentary series 'Beyond Society' and three new works in main competition. The festival will showcase 'Sants' from Mikel Gurrea featuring actress Vicky Luengo, Berto Romero's time-loop romantic comedy 'Five Minutes More', and Roberto Bueso's family dramedy 'El Mal Padre', alongside out-of-competition selections by screenwriter Isabel Peña and director Fernando Trueba. The announcement comes after major Spanish productions including 'The Beloved' were directed toward other European festivals, making this year's San Sebastián selection notably diverse in its focus.

The festival's programming represents a mix of established talent and emerging filmmakers, including debut features from director Javier Giner and actor Jaime Lorente. Notable returning directors such as David Pérez Sañudo and Daniel Monzón contribute historical and dramatic works, whilst Spanish production companies including Movistar+ and Atresmedia maintain significant presence. The event marks the final festival under the leadership of director José Luis Rebordinos, who received recognition from the Spanish film industry at the selection announcement.
