SAP’s Signavio hit with function injunction in Germany
A Munich court has ordered SAP to stop providing a specific feature in its Signavio Process Intelligence software in Germany, ruling that it infringes a Celonis patent. The feature measures the time taken between stages of a process, and the decision forms part of wider intellectual property disputes between the companies.
SAP says the injunction concerns one function, not the whole product, and that Signavio remains available; it also says S/4HANA Cloud migrations are unaffected. SAP has appealed and challenged the patent’s validity, while the court has asked it to provide further information and financial statements. The companies are pursuing other cases in Germany and the US, including a US trial scheduled for September 2027.
- German court restricts one Signavio function over a Celonis patent.
- SAP has appealed and disputes the patent’s validity.
- The ruling applies in Germany and does not affect S/4HANA Cloud migrations.
