Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister warned that Houthi attacks pose a wider international security threat, particularly to commercial shipping through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. His comments followed Saudi claims that its air defences intercepted six ballistic missiles launched towards Taif and Yanbu, while Riyadh urged greater international cooperation amid reports that President Trump had declined direct US military intervention.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan said Saudi Arabia was defending itself and coordinating with Washington and other allies, stressing that the threat extended beyond Saudi territory. The Houthis have reportedly expanded along Yemen’s western coast towards the strategic waterway, raising concerns about global trade and Saudi oil exports; no casualties or damage were immediately reported from the intercepted missiles.
