SAXON To Release ‘Gods Of Thunder’ Album In January 2027

Blabbermouth · 1 day ago

SAXON guitarist Brian Tatler has confirmed that the band's forthcoming 25th studio album will be titled "Gods Of Thunder", revealing the news to TotalRock's Neil Jones at the Maid Of Stone festival in Maidstone, Kent. The announcement builds on last month's news of a "Gods Of Thunder" world tour, with the band reviving their iconic 30-foot mechanised Eagle and "Castles & Eagles" stage show for UK and Ireland dates, delighting long-time fans of the band's classic imagery.

Frontman Biff Byford has revealed the album will be released on Friday 22 January 2027, with pre-orders opening in early September alongside a first single, expected on seven-inch vinyl. The record follows 2024's "Hell, Fire And Damnation" and was mixed by longtime producer Andy Sneap. The Eagle prop, first built in the early 1980s for the "Denim And Leather" tour, will appear at all UK and Ireland shows except Cardiff; the tour comes as Byford continues his recovery from bowel cancer treatment, having completed chemotherapy last October.
