‘Scary Movie’ Sets Paramount+ Release Date

Variety · 2 hours ago

"Scary Movie," the sixth entry in the horror-spoof franchise, will begin streaming on Paramount+ from 3 September, following its theatrical run. The film, directed by Michael Tiddes, marks the first instalment since "Scary Movie 2" to reunite the Wayans family, who had previously stepped away amid disputes with executive producer Bob Weinstein, founder of Dimension Films.

Returning cast members include Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall, with Faris and Hall coming back after sitting out "Scary Movie 5." The film took $54 million on its opening weekend and grossed more than $230 million worldwide. Marlon Wayans described the project as a "rebootquel" that returns to the series' "equal opportunity offenders" style, satirising both classic slasher tropes and modern hits such as "Sinners" and "Get Out," and credited his return after 25 years to the "dismantling of the Weinstein regime."
