Scotland made an emphatic start to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning three swimming medals within 45 minutes before adding another gold later in the evening. The home successes at Tollcross International Swimming Centre gave the hosts an early boost and prompted jubilant scenes, including two renditions of Flower of Scotland.

Duncan Scott defended his 200m individual medley title in a Games-record performance, taking his Commonwealth medal tally to 14. Stephen Clegg won silver in the S13 100m freestyle after an injury-hit year, Katie Shanahan improved on her Birmingham 2022 bronze with silver in the 200m backstroke, and Faye Rogers secured Scotland’s second gold with a dominant SM10 200m individual medley win.
