Woods led throughout the replayed final, holding off Mauritius’ Noemi Alphonse to win and improve the Games record she had set less than 40 hours earlier; Australia’s Eliza Ault-Connell was also in contention before dropping back. Kottas finished fourth after describing the decision to overturn the original result as “low-key traumatising”, while Woods was due to contest the 400m heats roughly 90 minutes later.
