Sam Kerr and Martha Thomas have returned to Scotland’s squad for the first time in almost a year for next month’s Women’s World Cup play-off against the Czech Republic. Scotland will play in Pardubice on 9 October before hosting the return leg at St Mirren Park four days later, with progression potentially leading to a further play-off and a place at next summer’s tournament in Brazil.

Kerr has 34 caps but has not yet played under head coach Melissa Andreatta, while Thomas recently joined Newcastle United and has won 50 caps. Freya Gregory, Sophie Howard and Maria McAneny also return, while Leah Eddie, Kenzie Weir, Eilidh Adams and Laura Berry miss out. Scotland topped their qualifying group on goal difference and are four matches from reaching their first major tournament since the 2019 World Cup.
