Scottie Scheffler overcame a frustrating third round, in which a hot-mic outburst about the greens was caught on camera, to win the Tour Championship for a second time. The world number one closed with a bogey-free 4-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 16 under, overturning a three-shot deficit to Viktor Hovland and reasserting his dominance as the game's top-ranked player.

Scheffler made an early move with birdies at the second and fourth holes before taking the outright lead for the first time with a birdie at the 13th, ultimately carding six birdies against two bogeys. Hovland, whose hot putter had carried him to the lead through the first two rounds, went cold on Sunday and finished runner-up at 13 under after a 2-over 72, three shots back. Ryan Gerard took solo third at 12 under, one ahead of a seven-way tie for fourth that included Rory McIlroy, while Chris Gotterup faded late with back-nine bogeys to fall out of contention.
