Scottish Ballet and production house Forest of Black have partnered with independent distributor Tull Stories to bring their dance film "These Violent Delights" to UK and Irish cinemas from 21 October. The project, a wordless contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" told from Juliet's perspective, marks Scottish Ballet's first major feature-length film and represents a significant step up from the short-form dance films the company has previously produced.

The film was shot on location across Scotland and co-directed by Oscar Sansom and Christopher Hampson, Scottish Ballet's director and CEO/artistic director, with choreography overseen by six different artists including Julia Cheng and Sophie Laplane. It stars Kayla-Maree Tarantolo and Ishan Mahabir-Stokes alongside Scottish Ballet dancers, and will have its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 14 August ahead of the wider cinema release.
