Sean Combs has filed a countersuit against music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, accusing him of defamation and of taking private documentary footage without permission before selling it for use in a Netflix series. The case adds another legal dispute to the allegations surrounding Combs, who denies Jones’s claims and says Jones is seeking revenge and financial gain.

Jones first sued Combs for $30 million in February 2024, alleging he was drugged, sexually harassed and exposed to violence, drugs and firearms while working with him; Jones repeated and expanded on some allegations in Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Combs’s new filing alleges Jones copied footage from a videographer’s workstation during a December 2022 yacht trip in St Barts, and seeks unspecified damages, return of the footage and destruction of copies; Combs is serving a 50-month sentence on prostitution charges.
