He has previously described himself as having "technically" become custodian of John Lennon's legacy, a role his mother has stewarded for decades, telling CBS Sunday Morning in December 2025 that he aims to keep younger generations aware of the Beatles and his parents. John Lennon wrote the song "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)" for Sean as a child, featured on the 1980 album Double Fantasy, John and Yoko's final record together before Lennon's murder later that year.
