Second Labour MP suspended amid questions over taxpayer-funded Covid business loans
Labour MP Perran Moon has been suspended from the party’s Commons ranks while an investigation examines a Covid business loan taken out by a company he co-owned. He referred himself to Labour, saying the loan application was made in good faith and that the business intended to repay it.
Companies House records show Autoswot Limited, an online training company established in 2019, took out a £50,000 bounce back loan. Moon said the company made repayments before ceasing trading in late 2022 amid market pressures; an attempt to wind it up was made in November that year. He is the second Labour MP facing scrutiny over such loans, after Bayo Alaba referred himself for investigation in August.
