Secret Service is looking into ‘perceived threat’ against Barron Trump after disturbing $10M bounty video out of Iran
The US Secret Service has confirmed it is investigating a video released via Iranian state media that details Barron Trump's whereabouts, friendship network and daily habits, offering a $10 million bounty and titled "Where to Kill Barron Trump." It is the latest in a series of AI-generated videos aired by Iranian outlets targeting the Trump family, following a similar clip about First Lady Melania Trump published last month, and comes as tensions between Iran and the US, now nearing six months of open conflict, continue to escalate.
The three-minute video claims to draw on infiltrated Secret Service information, alleging details such as a meeting on the 58th floor of Trump Tower, a Washington DC location where the 20-year-old NYU student reportedly stays, and information about his dormitory, gaming habits and social media use. Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said the agency "investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat" but would not discuss protective intelligence matters. It follows a video naming Melania Trump's shopping habits and staff, and comes after a previously foiled 2024 plot, tied to an IRGC operative, to assassinate Donald Trump.

Barron Trump is the youngest son of US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. He is 20 years old and studies at New York University. As a member of the president's family, he receives Secret Service protection, the federal agency responsible for guarding the president and his relatives.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have been building for months, following a period of open conflict between the two countries. Iranian state media has previously broadcast content targeting members of the Trump family, including material about Melania Trump, as part of this wider standoff. There was also a previously disrupted plot linked to an Iranian operative to harm Donald Trump himself.
The Secret Service is the US government body tasked with assessing and responding to threats against the president and his family, and it routinely investigates material it considers a possible danger. Its involvement here reflects standard protective procedure rather than confirmation of any specific plan or capability to act on the video.
