Secret Service is looking into ‘perceived threat’ against Barron Trump after disturbing $10M bounty video out of Iran
Developing story first seen 3 hours ago
The Secret Service has confirmed it is investigating a new AI-generated video, released via Iranian state-linked media, that tracks Barron Trump's whereabouts, friendship network and daily habits while offering a $10 million bounty under the title "Where to Kill Barron Trump." Spokesman Nate Herring said the agency treats the clip as a "perceived threat" and is looking into it, marking the latest escalation in a run of menacing videos targeting the Trump family as tensions with Iran approach six months of open conflict.
The three-minute video claims to draw on infiltrated Secret Service information, alleging details such as a meeting on Trump Tower's 58th floor, a Washington DC location where the 20-year-old NYU student reportedly stays, and specifics of his dormitory, gaming habits (via Xbox and Discord) and social media accounts, which it claims are run by his friend Bo Loudon. It follows a similar Iranian video published last month targeting Melania Trump, which named her staff, shopping haunts including Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, and suggested poisoning methods, and comes after a foiled 2024 IRGC-linked plot to assassinate Donald Trump.

Barron Trump is the youngest son of US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. He is 20 years old and studies at New York University. As a member of the president's family, he receives Secret Service protection, the federal agency responsible for guarding the president and his relatives.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have been building for months, following a period of open conflict between the two countries. Iranian state media has previously broadcast content targeting members of the Trump family, including material about Melania Trump, as part of this wider standoff. There was also a previously disrupted plot linked to an Iranian operative to harm Donald Trump himself.
The Secret Service is the US government body tasked with assessing and responding to threats against the president and his family, and it routinely investigates material it considers a possible danger. Its involvement here reflects standard protective procedure rather than confirmation of any specific plan or capability to act on the video.
