“Seinfeld” will remain on Netflix for another five years after Sony Pictures Television renewed its streaming agreement with the service. The extension keeps all 180 episodes available to Netflix subscribers and underlines the enduring commercial appeal of the sitcom, which continues to draw viewers decades after its debut.

Sony has also renewed Paramount’s exclusive US basic-cable rights for three years across Comedy Central, TV Land and other Paramount networks; financial terms for both agreements were not disclosed. The series first arrived on Netflix and Comedy Central in 2021, and Nielsen reported that 60 million Americans watched at least one minute of it on streaming or linear television in the first half of 2026.

Seinfeld is an American comedy series that originally ran from 1989 to 1998. It follows comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his friends in New York, using everyday situations such as dating, work and social awkwardness as the basis for its stories.

Sony Pictures Television owns the programme and licenses it to broadcasters and streaming services. Netflix is a subscription streaming service, while Paramount runs television networks including Comedy Central and TV Land in the United States.

The programme is widely regarded as one of the most successful television comedies of its era and has remained popular through repeats and streaming. Rights deals for established series matter because familiar programmes can attract and retain viewers long after new episodes stop being made.
