“Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure” is a forthcoming primetime crossover special with PBS’s “Nature”, in which Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Nina travel to Kenya to visit an orphaned elephant they adopted online. The story uses an African safari setting to introduce young viewers to wildlife and conservation, culminating in Elmo learning that the elephant’s wellbeing depends on remaining in the wild.

The programme premieres on 14 October at 8 p.m. ET on PBS and PBS Kids, with streaming also available through PBS. It launches the 45th season of “Nature” and is produced by Sesame Workshop and The WNET Group; Benjamin Lehmann directs and produces, while the teams say the special aims to encourage curiosity, family exploration and wildlife protection.
