Variety · 3 hours ago

Actor Seth Green has said he was never approached about reprising his role as Oz, the werewolf guitarist, in Hulu's cancelled "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot. Speaking on "The McBride Rewind" podcast, Green explained he had no part in discussions about the project, though he said he would be open to returning if asked, expressing interest in seeing where the character stands today.

The Hulu project, titled "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale," was announced in March 2025 but was scrapped after the pilot was made. It would have starred Ryan Kiera Armstrong as a new slayer alongside original series lead Sarah Michelle Gellar, who confirmed the cancellation on Instagram and thanked director Chloé Zhao for her involvement. The original series ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, and representatives for 20th Century and Hulu did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

  • Seth Green wasn't consulted about returning as Oz for the reboot.
  • He says he'd be willing to reprise the role if asked.
  • Hulu's "Buffy: New Sunnydale" reboot was axed after its pilot.
