Seth Rogen received a Career Achievement Award at the Toronto International Film Festival's Tribute Awards on Sunday night, joking that being honoured at 44 felt "ominous" and questioning whether organisers knew something about his health that he didn't. The Canadian actor, producer and writer was in Toronto promoting two films — Babies, directed by his wife Lauren Miller Rogen, and the animated feature Tangles, which the couple produced together.

Rogen was among several stars honoured at the ceremony, held at the Royal York Hotel. Helen Mirren received a Groundbreaker Award, dedicating it to the late Dolly Parton and Gloria Steinem, while Penélope Cruz and Isabelle Huppert each collected tribute honours tied to their festival titles. South Korean director Lee Chang-dong won the Ebert Director Award for his film Possible Love, his first in eight years, and Sian Heder's Being Heumann, which opened TIFF on 10 September, took the Impact Award, with further prizes going to Rosalind Eleazar and Bassam Tariq.
