Courtney Shah, a seven-time winner on Jeopardy! who later competed in the show's Tournament of Champions, has died at her home aged 52 following a battle with brain cancer. Her death was confirmed by local radio station KLOG, which cited the Washington college where she taught history. She had become known to viewers for her strong run on the quiz show in 2021.

During her seven-game streak in 2021, Shah won a total of $118,558, and the following year she reached the quarterfinals of the Tournament of Champions before being eliminated. She taught U.S. and World History at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on 10 August, from 1pm to 3.30pm, at the college's Rose Center for the Arts.
