Sevendust’s 30-Year odyssey: Success, near-bankruptcy and new purpose: “It’s been tough. We survived what many people wouldn’t have survived.”

Louder ·

Sevendust reflect on a 30-year career marked by early commercial success, serious financial difficulties and a recent decision to continue rather than split. The band say open discussion helped repair tensions between members and led to their new album, One, whose title represents their renewed unity.

The Atlanta group achieved three consecutive gold albums between 1997 and 2001, despite their debut selling only 311 copies in its first week before exceeding 500,000 overall. They later lost $75,000 during a European tour, came close to bankruptcy and paid $40,000 after an unsuccessful legal case over alleged financial mismanagement; after nearly a decade and new management, they recovered. In 2022, some members considered ending the band, but the group remained together and is now touring the US, UK and Europe.

  • Sevendust survived financial crises and near-bankruptcy.
  • Internal talks prevented a planned split.
  • New album One symbolises renewed unity.
