Several Big PS5 Games Have Gone Gold, Some Nearly Two Months Ahead of Launch

Push Square · 4 hours ago

Three major PlayStation 5 titles have gone gold in recent days, meaning their development is complete and discs are ready to be manufactured ahead of release. This marks a significant milestone for each game and suggests their launches, some of which are still weeks away, are on track for a smooth debut with limited scope for last-minute delays.

Remedy Entertainment's Control Resonant, a sequel to 2019's Control that casts players as protagonist Jesse Faden's brother Dylan, went gold a couple of days ago, though its physical release has been delayed while the digital version remains set for 24th September. Valor Mortis, a first-person Souls-like from Ghostrunner developer One More Level blending Napoleonic history with supernatural powers, went gold yesterday ahead of its 13th October launch. Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a racing game from former Burnout and Need for Speed developers featuring a roguelike campaign and pod racers, went gold today (20th August) with a 6th October release date, giving both it and Valor Mortis nearly two months to prepare launch-day updates.

  • Control Resonant, Valor Mortis and Star Wars: Galactic Racer have all gone gold.
  • Going gold means development is finished and discs can be made.
  • Some titles have almost two months before their actual release dates.
