Sevilla close to signing Scottish striker Ure in £7.9m deal
Sevilla are close to completing a £7.9m signing of Scotland Under-21 striker Robbie Ure from Swedish side IK Sirius, with the 22-year-old expected to undergo a medical at the Spanish club on Monday. He is set to sign a five-year contract and will be handed the role of leading the line at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, marking a significant step up in his career after attracting interest from multiple clubs across Europe.
Ure began his career at Rangers, managing just one goal in three appearances, before a largely unsuccessful spell at Belgian club Anderlecht, where he made only one senior appearance. His move to IK Sirius a year ago transformed his fortunes, with 31 goals and seven assists in 50 games, including 20 goals and three assists in 20 matches this season, helping the club build a 13-point lead at the top of the Allsvenskan. Although eligible to represent Ukraine, the Scotland Under-19 international has said he is holding out for a call-up to the senior Scotland side.
