StudioCanal, Urban Myth Films, Millennium and G-Base have announced that filming has begun on Shadow Has Fallen, the third season of Gerard Butler's Has Fallen franchise, following on from Paris Has Fallen and the forthcoming Apollo Has Fallen. The series, shooting in South Africa and the UK, adds Iwan Rheon, Brendan Coyle and Atandwa Kani to a cast that sees Ritu Arya and Tewfik Jallab reprise their roles as MI6 operative Zara Taylor and former French agent Vincent Taleb, with the project marking a further expansion of StudioCanal's production footprint in South Africa.

The six-episode season is written by series creator Howard Overman and directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner and Alice Troughton, with the story sending Vincent and Taleb on a mission into Southern Africa. It is produced by Julian Murphy, with executive producers including Overman, Johnny Capps, Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel, alongside Millennium's Avi Lerner, Jonathan Yunger and Yariv Lerner. The production follows Canal+ Group's acquisition of MultiChoice Group and comes as StudioCanal also wraps filming on Bill Condon's feature The Road Home in South Africa, with the studio citing the country's cast, crews and creative talent as key draws.
