Shakira has announced a concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza, marking her first performance in Egypt in almost two decades. The Colombian pop star will play against the backdrop of the pyramids on 28 November in a show presented by Venture Lifestyle, returning to a venue where she previously performed in 2007 during her 'Oral Fixation' tour. The Giza site, the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, has increasingly been used as a setting for major international live music events in recent years.
The announcement comes amid a busy period for the singer, who is due to perform at the first ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. That 11-minute show, curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin, will also feature Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, Burna Boy and others, supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund's bid to raise $100million. Shakira opened the 2026 World Cup last month with the anthem 'Dai Dai', her third official World Cup song, and the Pyramids date follows her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' era — an album that won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2025 Grammys and prompted her first tour since 2018.

Shakira is a Colombian singer whose career spans decades of Latin pop hits, and she has long used large-scale, visually striking venues for her live shows. She first performed at the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt in 2007, during her 'Oral Fixation' tour, and the pyramids have since become an increasingly popular site for major international concerts. Her new show there is being staged by the promoter Venture Lifestyle.
The announcement comes as Shakira is in an unusually high-profile stretch of her career. She has just released the 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' album, which won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2025 Grammys and led to her first world tour since 2018, and she opened the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a new anthem before being booked to perform at the tournament's first-ever final halftime show alongside artists including Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber.
The Great Pyramids themselves are the last surviving of the seven wonders of the ancient world, located just outside Cairo, and are one of Egypt's most recognisable landmarks. Hosting a concert there is significant both for the scale of the spectacle and for what it signals about Egypt's efforts to promote the site as a venue for major international entertainment events, alongside its historical importance.
