Shakira & Burna Boy’s World Cup Anthem Is the No. 1 Song in the World – But Where Is It Biggest?
Shakira and Burna Boy's official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem, "Dai Dai," has become the biggest song in the world, topping Billboard's Global 200 chart and holding the No. 1 spot on the Global Excl. U.S. chart for a third consecutive week. However, the track has yet to break into the top half of the U.S. Hot 100, revealing an unusual disconnect between its worldwide popularity and its comparatively muted reception in America, likely reflecting its Afrobeats and reggaetón sound, multilingual lyrics, and football's smaller profile in the United States.
In the week ending 9 July, the song generated 94.3 million official on-demand streams globally, with under 8% coming from the U.S. (compared with the usual 25-30% for Global 200 hits), even though America still contributed more raw streams (7.5 million) than any other single country. Adjusted for population, Norway ranks top with 0.16 streams per person, seven times the U.S. rate, followed by Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France and Spain; many of the highest per-capita markets belonged to nations still competing in the tournament at that point. Since its 15 May release, the song has climbed steadily from No. 114 to No. 1 on the Global 200, with South Africa, India, Japan, France and Malaysia showing the biggest streaming growth, while Nigeria, Burna Boy's home country, has shown the smallest increase.
